What is the status of the drivers? Why is it so inconceivable for users to think that upgrading the APPL OS wouldn’t be an issue??!!! I can’t play out because of this screwup????!!!! It’s #@%$%$@# New Years and I am worried that no fix to the drivers are on the horizon. Why is it taking sooooo long? Doesn’t Rane communicate with APPL with regard to development issues, i.e., beta testing and the like???!!!
I’m really surprised at this debacle. What’s going on over there at Rane???!!! Why don’t you guys put down the kush for a little while and solve this issue. Want to hear something funny? I called Rane and Zack informed me that the Rane Sixty-One wasn’t supported. I nearly had a fit! How in the hell does a company not support a product that’s relatively new? How can a Rane employee not remember where a particular product line stands???!!! How in the world is this possible???!!!! Communication is key gentlemen,
INFORM YOUR CLIENT BASE ON THE STATUS OF THE UPDATED DRVIERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT’S MY MIXER AND I NEED IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“The first beta of OS X El Capitan was released to developers shortly following the 2015 WWDC keynote on June 8, 2015. The first public beta was made available on July 9, 2015.”
Did Apple totally screw up the drivers?
It’s been like 6 months now. Not all of us are professional DJs with separate Serato only laptops.. we use other software and updates too.
And no ETA?!
At this point we are waiting on Apple to get back to us.
They broke something in their own system and its not something that can be fixed by us.
Our driver designs were specifically chose to avoid compatibility issues when new operating systems come out as they are in alignment with Mac computers.
Its a waiting game for all of us until Apple fixes their audio port issues.
You have three options at this point.
The first is to stay with El Capitan and wait until updates are available without an ETA, the second is to downgrade your OS to Yosemite, OSX 10.9, or 10.8., or the third is partition your hard drive and put Yosemite or Mavericks on it.
When you want to use Serato you boot up in Yosemite or Mavericks. When you want to do your work/personal stuff boot up in El Capitan.
I’m sorry if this may not be what you wanted to hear but its, unfortunately, the way things are.
We will inform our user base with any new updates as they come in via our social media channels.

Thanks Zach
Do you think if instead of complaining here users write to Apple support… to hurry up.. cause it looks like the problem is on their side.
BTW… the DATES in this forum are very confusing “1:00:44 - 16 Wednesday 2015”... you should put the MONTH too
I’m not sure how much help complaining to Apple will do:(
I think the better, less stressful, less time consuming approach would be to downgrade your OS or create a partition as I have suggested.
From a DJ/producer to another fellow DJ I would highly suggest never updating to the latest OS or even music software unless you either have to or there is a really compelling reason for it.
All three of us in Rane’s support are working DJs and its a rule of thumb for us that we always stay one OS behind the latest to avoid all of this. The shiny bling is rarely worth the headache.
Its the best approach given these crazy times of new technology.
Creating a partition on your drive and keeping your music stuff separate from your day to day stuff is a great way to go anyways.

Just curious.
Shortly after El Capitan release, several vendors (Serato, Pioneer, Denon, Numark, etc) had issues.
Fast forward to today, Dec. 17, 2015 .... for the most part, all other vendors, except Rane, have released update/driver/etc.
to address El Capitan issues, with most items now supporting El Capitan.
What are they doing differently from Rane?

That would interest me too.
...and yes, please add month to date in this forum.

Yes… would be easier instead of opening Calendar and checking what corresponds :)

Thinking out load, I wonder what is the future of Rane DJ products.
They no longer are the “only game in town” for Serato DJs, which I suspect kept them going as long as they have in the DJ market.
Today Denon, Pioneer and Numark offer several, no Rane needed, solutions for using Serato DJ
It seems that Rane competitors are also bigger, and thus have more $$ resources to support ongoing development/support.
As demonstrated by the fact that they ALL have El Capitian compatible drivers/solutions, but Rane has shown zero progress.
IMO, staying on an old OS build is not an an acceptable solution.
Rane was a successful company long before Serato started working with us.
We will continue to build solutions for DJs, producers, and musicians.
Rane made the decision to use Core Audio drivers with the SL2, SL3, SL4, Sixty-Two, Sixty-One, Sixty-Eight, Sixty-Four, MP25, and MP26—> https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/MusicAudio/Conceptual/CoreAudioOverview/WhatisCoreAudio/WhatisCoreAudio.html.
Our last two models, TTM57mkII and the MP2015, are Class Compliant—> http://www.sweetwater.com/insync/class-compliant/.
We specifically chose these platforms to always stay in alignment with what Mac is doing and avoid exactly what has happened.
Our Core Audio drivers and our Class Compliant mixers SHOULD be working on Mac’s OS. Mac has broke something in their own system that needs to be addressed.
To my knowledge, the other hardware manufacturers are using drivers that were designed by them or some other third party which is why they were able to get their drivers tweaked and working already. They have not needed Apple to fix anything.
As I said, we thought using Apple’s own platform we would be able to divert this. We were obviously wrong:(
I’ve been doing this job for the past 10 years and I’ve seen many operating systems come and go. Every single time there are growing pains that effect a persons workflow. Whether its hardware, software, drivers, etc. from whatever manufacturer or software developer. Its always a headache.
Because of this I always stay well behind any new operating systems, and even software versions, that come out on my personal setup. Its simply a smarter way to go given the way Apple is throwing out new operating systems every 18 months and making it next to impossible for the average computer user to locate and roll back to a previous one.
Unless there is a absolute need to update why do it if it could potentially land you on an Ableton, Apple, Serato, Traktor, Apple, or Rane forum having to complain about it?
I completely understand the frustration here. We all would like the latest and greatest working from the get go. Its just not the reality we’re living in. Fortunately there is the safe guard of using an older, stable, system.

Could you please explain how you would go about creating a ‘partition’ ?
Sphinx Sounds 4:26:12 - 20 December 2015
You have to go into your disk utility and partition your free space (~100GB). Then, you get a 8GB usb stick to do the install of Yosemite on that newly created drive.
I didn’t want to do it but was forced to by a non-responsive Rane. Now, I have to hold down the option key to choose my Yosemite install. Great- spent all this money on my 61 and can’t even use the latest MBP OS.

Thanks Zach for your open words, i’ve learned that Rane has chosen the Apple-OSX standard and failed at the moment when Apple made an alteration within EL Capitan. I subsume that RANE has the problem right now with it’s loyal customers/DJs for years, because RANE/Serato was ?/ is ? the standard setter for more than a decade. We - your customers - are spoiled and therefore deeply disappointed in the CURRENT situation. In the past we knew the Invest in RANE will bring a return. So please hurry and give it to us. I personally had also shortly to mention about a change in hardware because the current RANE-OSX-driver-situation makes me feel insecure about RANE’s software/driver skills.
DJ-Tech,
Rane takes great pride in the gear we provide and always will.
That does not take away the fact that EVERY time a new OS comes out there are issues with it.
Whether it be hardware, drivers, software, from your printer, to your anti virus software, to issues with the specific processor when couples with specific hardware.
We live in a time where hardware and software manufacturers have NEVER and will NEVER be ahead of the curve.
NEVER update to the latest operating system. That simply isn’t the best way forward.
I’m not just saying this because Rane devices don’t work yet. I’m saying that as a professional who’s worked in this industry for 10 years and as someone who has seen new operating systems and the issues that come with it time and time again.
I never update to the latest OS because I know better. I’m sharing this knowledge with you.
Incompatibilities always happens with a new OS and hardware/software. Nothing is going to ever change that. You can complain about it every 18 months or you can do what I and all of my DJ/producer friends do which is to stay back one OS from the latest.
Dan.. here is a link to a video on how to partition your drive—> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3R2xTPLhgc&feature=em-upload_owner
